On January 19, 2024, SFL partner Alexander Fischer spoke at a virtual panel webinar titled So You Want to Be An Expat Lawyer? What You Need to Know. The event was hosted by the International Law Section of the American Bar Association and exceeded 100 attendees. The program covered ethical obligations of competence of lawyers abroad, which code of ethics applies in one’s virtual, cross-border and international legal practice, ethical obligations in respect of client data and due diligence obligations. Specifically, Alexander discussed ethical obligations surrounding the seizure of an attorney’s electronic device at the border.
