Damon Duchenne
Associate Attorney
Damon earned his J.D. from University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated with the honors in the top 3% of his class. In law school, Damon served as the Senior Articles Editor of the University of Miami Law Review and was granted the Daniel T. Gaubatz award for his dedication to his law review. Damon also participated in the International Moot Court Program and was part of the winning team at the 18th Annual Vis Pre-Moot of New York (organized by the International Chamber of Commerce).

Overview
Academically, Damon received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for obtaining the highest score in International Law, Conflict of Law, both courses taught by Prof. Bernard Oxman, a leading authority in the field of international law, and in Torts. Damon also made the Dean’s List for several semesters and was invited to join the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, the oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society in the nation.
Before law school, Damon earned his B.A. in International Relations and in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania. Damon obtained the honors for his senior thesis on the subject of inter-state disputes before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and the top grade in International Investment Arbitration at Penn Carey Law School, a course taught by Prof. Gary Born, a leading authority in the field of international arbitration. The International Relations program at Penn is regularly ranked in the tope 5 in the country. In 2019, Damon studied abroad at the University of Melbourne in Australia, which is consistently ranked as the No. 1 university in Australia.
Damon was also the runner-up for the African continent in the International My Magna Carta competition, an international competition organized the English-Speaking Union to celebrate the 800-year anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, a foundational legal document in common law history.
Before joining SFL, Damon worked as a law clerk for a reputable Florida firm on litigation and local government matters, and for an immigration firm assisting refugees and asylees.
Originally from the island nation of Mauritius, Damon is fluent in English, French, and Mauritian Creole.
